Formed in 1949, Aden Airways initially flew Dakotas on a network from Cairo in the north to Nairobi in the south. Led by the charismatic Richard de Graaff Hunter, it established a strong presence but was handicapped by old equipment, a situation not relieved until Viscounts arrived in 1963. This intensely evocative book charts all the major Aden Airways events, its people - many of whom have contributed memories and images - the Haj flights, carriage of the drug Qat, oil exploration support and finally sabotage on the last day in 1967.
