   8vo., 255 pp. Original red cloth lettered in white, very good unclipped jacket w/ trivial wear to head of spine. Nice copy of the Cooper's scarce second work. The Struggles of Albert Woods is about an organic chemist who works himself up from humble beginnings to become a Fellow of the Royal Society, but just falls short of getting a knighthood. A period piece, but highly recommended comic reading. The writers first book, Scenes from Provincial Life, was hailed by writers such as Kingsley Amis, Anthony Burgess and John Braine.
